Between September and October we hosted two groups of young people from Italy and Germany in their internships in Barcelona, within the framework of the VET program, funded by Erasmus+. Mobility activities funded by this programme are intended to provide people with learning opportunities. Among its main objectives are:
- Reinforce key competencies and cross-cutting skills, in particular language learning and digital skills.
- Support the development of specific labour skills necessary in the current and future labour market.
- To make mobility a realistic possibility for any student.
Mobility experiences in the workplace are very enriching because they allow young people to develop personally and professionally. The fact of leaving your comfort zone entails an entire adaptation to a new space of experience and work. For many of the young people who have welcomed this, it has been their first experience outside their parents’ homes, which has allowed them to temporarily become independent and learn from it. Also, adapting to a new workspace and new ways of working means that this is the opportunity to develop technical and transversal skills such as resilience when facing the challenges and fears that this adaptation process can cause or communication in another language(s). As a whole, all this prepares them for future experiences. The young people we have welcomed during these two months want the best in their future professional experiences.
