My internship at Nexes Interculturals has recently come to an end, and as with any experience that concludes, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what this experience has meant to me. I arrived at Nexes in the summer with a strong desire to contribute to such an inspiring organization, and if I look back from where I started to where I am today, I feel that I carry with me a wealth of experience and awareness that I never thought I could gain in such a short time. Every day has been an opportunity to learn and grow, but also to face new challenges and reflect more deeply on myself.
During my four-month internship at Nexes Interculturals, I had the opportunity to work in a dynamic and stimulating environment, where I was able to apply and develop my skills in an international and intercultural context. I actively participated in the management of youth mobility projects, supporting the planning and organization of educational and recreational activities. Additionally, I had the chance to write project proposals within the Erasmus+ framework and create thematic workshops, such as one on empathetic listening and communication barriers, as well as others focused on developing social and emotional skills—topics I am deeply passionate about. These months were a real “training ground”, where I learned how to align my passions with essential topics like education for peace, emotional and affective support for youth, climate justice, and interculturality. These months were also an opportunity to confront my insecurities: they pushed me to reflect on how important it is to trust myself, while still remaining open to collaboration and teamwork.
What I found most rewarding about this experience was working closely with young people and having the opportunity to promote social inclusion through non-formal educational methodologies, which I got to know more deeply. I was also able to support the coordination of events, such as the Migrantour Seminar, and interact with international partners and volunteers. My involvement in group dynamics and in supporting the management of European internships allowed me to learn about project management and development. This work also gave me the opportunity to improve my organizational and communication skills, fostering a cohesive and productive work environment.
Looking to the future, this experience has allowed me to shape more concretely the direction I wish to pursue. Nexes has provided me with not only the tools to grow professionally, but also the strength to face my fears and insecurities, helping me to develop a clearer vision of my path. The awareness that this experience has given me is essential for my future, and I am truly grateful for everything I have learned and lived.
