Hello, I’m Marta! After several months of taking my first steps in Nexes, I can finally say that I feel fully incorporated into the team and eager to work for the Culture of Peace and education for global justice. I firmly believe that we need to move towards a society that is sensitive and critical to inequalities.
Without a doubt, my time in Jordan was very important in order to reach this conviction. Living there allowed me to get to know a completely different culture and language from mine. Going to another place by free choice is an experience that can provide endless knowledge. In my case, the desire to absorb everything new that this journey gave me and the desire to consolidate friendships by embracing cultural differences were fundamental ingredients in my learning.
It was there, surrounded by a completely new environment for me, when I started working on projects linked to intercultural education and human rights. Ever since, this has been my main focus, working in different contexts and with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, interests, needs and languages.
Nexes Interculturals, as its name suggests, works to establish links between diverse people with the intention of achieving a fairer local and global environment. Undoubtedly, Nexes values are also mine.
Finally, I would like to conclude by referring to my interest in plastic arts. I believe, and in my experience, that artistic language is unlimited and accessible to all people. Therefore, in this sea of prejudices and conflicts, I propose art as a possible allied tool through which to one can express criticism of the world. Because, without a doubt, making criticism of the world is essential to make society in which we live a better place.
