Youth Strategies to Combat Sexism is a collaborative project between the Plataforma Unitària Contra les Violències de Gènere (Unitary Platform Against Gender Violence), Fora de Quadre, and Nexes Interculturals, which aims to contribute to creating an environment where gender violence and the Right to Equality are respected and promoted globally.
Through this project, we seek to enhance the critical analysis skills of citizens and improve the competencies of the educational community in eradicating gender violence from a global and diverse perspective, working collaboratively with secondary school professors and students and young people in Catalonia and Colombia simultaneously.
This project has received funding for development and global education projects from the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation under the category of global education projects. Thanks to this funding, we initiated a collaboration with the Plataforma Unitària Contra les Violències de Gènere in the second phase of the project. In this phase, we begin the development of an educational resource with a gender-focused approach from an intersectional perspective. Currently, we are defining the format and content of the game, as we want it to be as engaging and enriching as possible for students. Our intention is to create material that delves into the causes and consequences of gender violence and the intersectional feminist perspective, with the idea of placing students in a situation where they must solve a mystery—in this case, determining who the perpetrator and victim are in the context of an anonymous report about gender violence.
The primary audience is students from various educational centers starting from third grade of ESO (secondary school), given the sensitivity of the topics and the depth and focus intended for them. This initiative aims to raise awareness among young people about the importance of identifying and taking a stand against sexist violence that may occur around them and in diverse contexts.
