Migrantfood

Migrantfood is a collective project between Mescladís and Nexes Interculturals that aims to create a participatory gastronomic route between the Raval and Eixample neighborhoods, combining teams of young people from the “Cooking Opportunities” program with the team of intercultural companions from Migrantour. Through this route, constructive dialogue, tolerance and intercultural exchange are promoted, while the diversity of social and solidarity economy projects involving migrants from Barcelona is highlighted. The project has been selected as one of the winners within the “Maratón intercultural de la Red Española de la Fundación Anna Lindh”. Thanks to this funding we have been able to do a pilot test with the students of 3rd ESO of the Viladomat Institute. Through a journey that combines stops in projects such as Top Manta, Fàbrica Moritz and Mescladís Borrell, it seeks to challenge cultural stereotypes, build shared identities and create spaces for intercultural dialogue. At the same time, they also see how these last two entities are committed to the labor inclusion and administrative regularization of migrants. At the same time we have also opted to make a route with sensory and reflective dynamics that put food sovereignty and global interdependence at the center. The main recipients are the students of the educational centers since this initiative aims to promote a more open and respectful vision of intercultural diversity among the new generations. In the reel you will be able to see how the participants of the experience and their opinion lived.
